alter bridge

alter bridge

Mark Tremonti and Scott Phillips formed Alter Bridge in 2004 after a cooling of their relationship with the Creed singer (Creed has since reconciled and reunited). The new band hooked up with then ex-Creed bassist Brian Marshall and former Mayfield Four front man Myles Kennedy (who recently performed and co-wrote 2 songs on Slash’s solo record and fronts his touring band).
In 2004, the band recorded their debut album, One Day Remains. It went gold in the United States and spawned three singles as well as the track “Metalingus,” which was adopted by the WWE’s Superstar Edge as his theme song later that year. In 2007 the band released the critically acclaimed second album, Blackbird, which included the hit singles “Rise Today” and “Watch Over You.” The latter became a top 10 video as well as the featured song on VH-1’s Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew. The band took to the road to promote their sophomore release, gaining more fans across the globe with their intense and powerful live show.
Lyrically, the first two albums are based on themes immersed in hope and perseverance in the face of adversity. On AB III, however, the theme has shifted. Kennedy states, “This record is definitely a departure from the last two albums in terms of its subject matter. It touches on the thoughts and emotions of someone who has come to question everything that was once regarded as an absolute truth. It’s the realization that everything you once believed in might not exist.”
This journey is set into motion by the album’s opening track, “Slip to the Void.” The song’s sparse and moody intro sets up the narrative as Kennedy’s vocal and lyrics emerge. Tremonti adds, “’Slip To The Void,’ has one of my favorite vocal performances ever by Myles, the song is really creepy and lets the listener know the vibe of the record. It’s pretty dark, the intro really sucks you in.”
The album then shifts gears into the metallic first single, “Isolation,” showcasing Alter Bridge’s ability to play and write aggressively while maintaining their signature melodic component. Tremonti states, “Melody is still the most important thing for us. There’s no point in being heavy just for the sake of being heavy.”
From the bombastic riffs of “Still Remains” to the brooding band favorite “Show Me A Sign, the album plays like a concept record whose main character is someone desperately struggling to find their place in a world steeped in doubt and emptiness. The track, “Words Darker Than Their Wings,” is the final chapter of this tale. Kennedy says, “The lyric was inspired by a conversation I had with a good friend a while ago. It was the catalyst for the idea of having both Mark and I trade off on the lead vocal. I thought it would be a good way of making the differing points of view in the ‘conversation’ more effective. More importantly, I thought Mark sounded great singing it!”
While AB III is a record with a consistent theme, there are songs both musically and thematically that break away and touch on different human emotions. One of those moments is found in “Wonderful Life,” a song that Kennedy claims was “An extremely emotional song to put together, it took a long time.” He then adds, “The lyric was inspired by the idea that there will come a day when we all must say goodbye to the ones we love and hold dear in our hearts. Basically, I asked myself what would I want to say in that final moment, that last goodbye?”
The band enlisted Producer Michael “Elvis” Baskette (Iggy Pop, Incubus), to capture the vision the band had for AB III. Baskette, described by Tremonti as “like a fifth band-member,” was also at the helm for the recording of Blackbird. Kennedy says,” Over the years we have definitely established a bond with Elvis. We trust his instincts, he knows how to bring out the best in us sonically and creatively.”
AB III is an incredibly intense and dynamic album proving Alter Bridge continues to grow and evolve with each recording. “We went into the process of putting the record together with a lot of confidence,” Tremonti reveals, “but we didn’t go into it looking to be commercial, or to have radio singles. We just wanted this to be an album that pleased us artistically, through and through.”

When all is lost to you inside
When all the darkness takes the light
The ritual warning has begun
And now you tear away from everyone
Disconnected, so alone, yeah
Severed ties from all you know

Isolation
Brings you to the end
Until you love again, oh
Isolation
If you could only see
What will come to be
Yeah

Justify you waste away
You dare to dream but still you're too afraid
And now you're broken and deceived
Lost to live this cruel reality
You're disconnected, so alone
Severed ties from all you know
[ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/a/alter_bridge/isolation.html ]
Isolation
Brings you to the end
Until you love again, oh
Isolation
If you could only see
What will come to be
Yeah

Maybe you'll stand
Maybe you'll give and break to find another way
And make things better
Maybe you'll find
A life you can live and learn to love along the way
And make things better
And make things better

Isolation
Brings you to the end
Until you love again, oh
Isolation
(Isolation)
If you could only see
What will come to be
Yeah

Isolation
(Isolation)
Brings you to the end
Until you love again, oh
Isolation
(Isolation)
If you could only see
What will come to be

You're disconnected, so alone
What will come to be?
You're disconnected, so alone

deftones - leather.

r />
Deftones are streaming their seventh album, the rightly anticipated Koi No Yokan, a week ahead of its release over at Rolling Stone. As implied by the teaser tastes previously received, “Tempest” and “Leathers,” the new one comes closer to advancing the nuanced alt-metal glory of 2000′s genuinely classic White Pony. It’s got more grind overall, but the textures and tones counterbalance the guttural with a distinctly narcotic headiness.
“It’s not a super fast or slow record. It’s very dynamic,” singer Chino Moreno told Billboard. “There’s a lot of aggression in some of the music, but there’s also this very soothing element where there’s a lot of soundscapes rather than attack, attack, attack the whole time… I really feel like we reached a peak on our dynamics on this record with those two qualities — the beauty of something and just straight, ruthless aggression.”
So while a brutal ripper like “Poltergeist” can sit comfortably next to the melodic and dreamy “Entombed,” most songs on the album fall somewhere between those two extremes, and tip the balance back and forth as they go on. It’s thick, heavy stuff, and though Koi No Yokan isn’t out until November 13, we recommend you listen to the entire thing right now. (source: spin.com)

This is your chance... Revolt, Resist!
Open you chest, Look down, Reach in.
Shedding Your Skin, Showing Your Texture.
Time to Let Everything Inside Show.
You're Cutting All Ties Now and Forever
Time to let everything outside you

This is your Test... Come Forth, Confess! Extend
Your Tongue, Speak Out, Go On.
Shedding Your Skin, Showing Your Texture.
Time to let everything Inside Show.
You're Cutting All Ties Now and Forever Time to let
Everything Outside You

She'd your casing, Show your lines And shapes.
Wear your insides, On the outside
Show your enemy, What you look like

THE KILLERS

THE KILLERS

The Killers are an American rock band that was formed in 2001, by Brandon Flowers (lead vocals, keyboards) and Dave Keuning (guitar, backing vocals). Mark Stoermer (bass, backing vocals) and Ronnie Vannucci Jr. (drums, percussion) would complete the current line-up of the band in 2002. The group has released three studio albums, Hot Fuss (2004), Sam’s Town (2006) and Day & Age (2008) with a fourth titled Battle Born, set to be released in late 2012. They have also released one compilation album, Sawdust (2007) and one live album and DVD titled Live from the Royal Albert Hall (2009). To date, the band has sold over 6 million albums in the United States, over 5 million albums in the United Kingdom, and over 15 million worldwide.
Who doesn’t love The Killers? They definitely are one of the best bands out there. Every single of their songs is fun to listen to and I believe this is due to their pop but still rock-focused sound. Listening to them fills me with joy and energy, they make me feel more alive and they’re always able to cheer me up. Brandon Flowers’ voice combined with the indie-alternative-pop rock sound gives a perfect result. Dave Keuning does a great work with the guitar. A lot of simplicity, style, modernity and pure awesomeness!
Must-listen to songs : When You Were Young, Mr Brightside, For Reasons Unknown, Spaceman, Human, Read My Mind, Shadowplay(a great Joy Division cover)

Blonde hair blowing in the summer wind.
A blue eyed girl playing in the sand.
I've been on her trail for a little while,
But that was the night that she broke down,
And held my hand
.A teenage rush, she said,
 “Ain't we all just runaways?
We got time, but that ain't much,
We can't wait till tomorrow.
You gotta know that this is real Baby,
why you wanna fight it?
It's the one thing you can choose.
Oh

We got engaged on a Friday night,
I swore on the head of our unborn child,
That I could take care of the three of us
,But I got the tendency to slip,
When the nights get wild.
It's in my blood.
She said she might just runaway,
 Somewhere else,
someplace good,
We can't wait till tomorrow.
You gotta know that this is real baby,
 why you wanna fight it?
It's the one thing you can choose.

Let's take a chance,
 baby we can't lose.
Ain’t we all just runaways?
I knew it when I met you
,I'm not gonna let you runaway
I knew it when I held you
I wasn't letting go.

We used to look at the stars and confess our dreams,

Hold each other till the morning light.
We used to laugh; now we only fight,
Baby are you lonesome now?
At night I come home after they go to sleep.

muse

Muse are an English rock band from Teignmouth, Devon, formed in 1994. The band consists of school friends Matthew Bellamy (lead vocals, lead guitar, piano, keyboards, keytar), Christopher Wolstenholme (bass, vocals, keyboards, rhythm guitar, harmonica) and Dominic Howard (drums, percussion, synthesisers, sampling, harmtar). After the release of their 2006 album Black Holes and Revelations, keyboardist and percussionist Morgan Nicholls has performed live with the band. Muse are known for their energetic and extravagant live performances and their fusion of many music genres, including space rock, progressive rock, alternative rock, heavy metal, classical music and electronica. Muse have released five studio albums: Showbiz (1999), Origin of Symmetry (2001), Absolution (2003), Black Holes and Revelations (2006), and The Resistance (2009). They have also issued three live albums, Hullabaloo Soundtrack (2002), which is also a compilation of B-sides, Absolution Tour (2005), and HAARP (2008), which documents the band’s performance at Wembley Stadium in 2007. A sixth studio album entitled The 2nd Lawis set for release in September 2012.

It was hard for me to decide whether Muse or Radiohead would get the first place on this list but finally, here we are, number 1 modern rock band : MUSE.

I have been listening to Muse for a long time, I have played nearly every one of their songs, and I still haven’t had enough of them. They are one of the biggest bands nowadays. Their style is one of the most interesting styles ever, they can play anything and still sound awesome. They mix space rock with progressive rock, alternative rock with heavy metal, symphonic rock with hard rock, and even classical music with electronica. They are different enough to rock out with classical music which they transform to distorted guitar riffs, rapid bass lines and drum beats.
Then, there’s the fact that there’s only three of them, three men that produce a sound equal to the sound of 10 musicians. The highlight : Matthew Bellamy, he is a musical genius, he can play guitar like a guitar hero or play piano like a piano prodigy and still sing like a god, his riffs and his solos are unique, not always technical, but always different, always full of emotion.
I love the depth and weight of Chris Wolstenholme’s bass lines, and the power of Dom Howard’s drumming. They have talent and they always use it to experiment and create new sounds that define modern rock. Then, they unleash those sounds in an outstanding, “energetic and extravagant” form during their live performances.

It’s amazing how they can sound and perform better in their live shows than in their studio versions. They are three extraordinary modern musicians and they give life to the band that future parents will advise to their children as the 21st century’s best rock band

Link it to the world
Link it to yourself
Stretch it like a birth squeeze
The love for what you hide
For bitterness inside
Is growing like the new born
When you've seen, seen too much
Too young, young
Soulless is everywhere

Hopeless time to roam
The distance to your home
Fades away to nowhere
How much are you worth?
You can't come down to earth
You're swelling up
You're unstoppable
Cos you've seen
Seen too much
And too young
Young
Soulless is everywhere
Destroy the spineless
Show me it's real
Wasting our last chance
To come away
Just break a silence
Cause i'm drifting away
Away from you

Yeah link it to the world
Link it to yourself
Stretch it like it's a birth squeeze
And the love for what you hide
And the bitterness inside
Is growing like the new born
When you've seen, seen too much
Too young, young
Soulless is everywhere
Destroy the spineless
Show me it's real
Wasting our last chance
To come away
Just break a silence
Cause i'm drifting away
Away from you
Oooohhhhaaaaaahhhhh

artic monkeys

Arctic Monkeys are an English indie rock band. Formed in 2002 in High Green, a suburb of Sheffield, the band currently consists of Alex Turner (lead vocals, lead/rhythm guitar), Jamie Cook (rhythm/lead guitar), Nick O’Malley (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Matt Helders (drums, backing vocals). Former members include Andy Nicholson (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Glyn Jones (lead vocals, rhythm guitar). The band have released four studio albums: Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not (2006), Favourite Worst Nightmare (2007), Humbug (2009) and Suck It and See (2011), as well as one live album At the Apollo (2008). The band’s debut album became the fastest-selling debut album in British music history, surpassing Oasis’ Definitely Maybe, and still holds that title.
This list can’t exclude The Arctic Monkeys! They are mostly influenced by indie rock and over the years they have musically expanded and their sound has altered with each album, creating a style that is difficult to describe, a style that I love. It’s fun to listen to Alex Turner’s intricate and often fastly-delivered lyrics, it’s even better to listen to Matt Helders’ rapid and explosive drum beats, but the best is to listen to the raw and crunchy riffs. The result is an aggressive and uptempo sound that I would enjoy listening to everytime I’m in action(rarely). I love the guitar riffs and never get tired of playing them on my guitar, they’re pure ear pleasure, simple and cool. They’re still young and I’m impatient to see how their next songs and how they will develop(which they will surely do). ps. I’m not a big fan of psychedelic rock, but they’re pretty good at it.
Must-listen to songs : Fluorescent Adolescent, Teddy Picker, Fake Tales Of San Fransico, I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor, When The Sun Goes Down, Crying Lightning, Brianstorm, R U Mine

You used to get it in your fishnets
Now you only get it in your night dress
Discarded all the naughty nights for niceness
Landed in a very common crisis
Everything's in order in a black hole
Nothing seems as pretty as the past though
That Bloody Mary's lacking in Tabasco
Remember when you used to be a rascal

Oh the boy's a slag
The best you ever had
The best you ever had
Is just a memory and those dreams
But as daft as they seem
As daft as they seemed
My love when you dream them up

Flicking through a little book of sex tips
Remember when the boys were all electric?
Now when she tells she's gonna get it
I'm guessing that she'd rather just forget it
Clinging to not getting sentimental
Said she wasn't going but she went still
Likes her gentlemen not to be gentle
Was it a Mecca dauber or a betting pencil

Oh the boy's a slag
The best you ever had
The best you ever had
Is just a memory and those dreams
Weren't as daft as they seem
Not as daft as they seem
My love when you dream them up

Oh, Flo, where did you go?
Where did you go?
Where did you go?

Falling about
You took a left off
Last Laugh Lane
You were just sounding it out
You're not coming back again

Falling about
You took a left off
Last Laugh Lane
You were just sounding it out
You're not coming back again

You used to get it in your fishnets
Now you only get it in your night dress
(Falling about)
Discarded all the naughty nights for niceness
Landed in a very common crisis
(You took a left off Last Laugh Lane)
Everything's in order in a black hole
Nothing seems as pretty as the past though
(You were just sounding it out)
That Bloody Mary's lacking in Tabasco
Remember when you used to be a rascal?
(You're not coming back again)

Static Cycle - Run Away lyrics

click to here song

Faster, I'm gaining ground, run harder
I'll see the way you break when
I drop and repay you the lesson
Faster, your chest keeps getting tighter
The screams are getting louder
You won't get away with it this time

Run away, don't look back
You can fall, I will catch you
I'll be there, waiting
Run away, don't look back
You can fall, I will catch you
And I'll be there waiting

'Cause I say:
Faster, I've seen the way you hit her
I've seen the way you use her
I won't let you take her under
Faster, your legs are getting tired
You feel I'm getting closer
You won't get away with it this time

I've seen the way you watch her die
I know that I can't save you
I'll throw you down, don't try to fight
I know that I can break you
I feel the weight, the chamber's out
Watch me pull this trigger
You'll never live, I'll make you pay
I know you're just not worth it

madam adam - sex ain't love

click to hear song

Sex Ain't Love lyricsIn a box and the top can't be lifted
What a night to give you anything
I’ll give you anything
Heaven sent but the price isn't worth it
Though it's not enough I gave you anything
I gave you!

Sex ain't love and I'm not complaining
I think that love is overrated
Sex ain't love and I kinda like it
Let's not make it too complicated

In the dark and its too dark to notice
Where you've got me now

Can you see my face?(2x)

Still around though I don’t know the reason
Why I give you all
I gave you everything
I gave you!

Sex ain't love and I'm not complaining
[- From: http://www.elyrics.net/read/m/madam-adam-lyrics/sex-ain_t-love-lyrics.html -]
I think that love is overrated
Sex ain't love and I kinda like it
Let's not make it too complicated

One kiss, my love
Your sex is what, what I morn
Your sweat, so sweet
Too good to be true
It's just a fantasy

I can bend, I can break
But there's just so much I can take

Sex ain't love and I'm not complaining
I think that love is overrated
Sex ain't love and I kinda like it
Let's not make it too complicated

One kiss, my love
Your sex is what, what I morn
Your sweat, so sweet
Too good to be true

It's just a fantasy(2x)
