Arctic Monkeys are an English indie rock band. Formed in 2002 in High Green, a suburb of Sheffield, the band currently consists of Alex Turner (lead vocals, lead/rhythm guitar), Jamie Cook (rhythm/lead guitar), Nick O’Malley (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Matt Helders (drums, backing vocals). Former members include Andy Nicholson (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Glyn Jones (lead vocals, rhythm guitar). The band have released four studio albums: Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not (2006), Favourite Worst Nightmare (2007), Humbug (2009) and Suck It and See (2011), as well as one live album At the Apollo (2008). The band’s debut album became the fastest-selling debut album in British music history, surpassing Oasis’ Definitely Maybe, and still holds that title.
This list can’t exclude The Arctic Monkeys! They are mostly influenced by indie rock and over the years they have musically expanded and their sound has altered with each album, creating a style that is difficult to describe, a style that I love. It’s fun to listen to Alex Turner’s intricate and often fastly-delivered lyrics, it’s even better to listen to Matt Helders’ rapid and explosive drum beats, but the best is to listen to the raw and crunchy riffs. The result is an aggressive and uptempo sound that I would enjoy listening to everytime I’m in action(rarely). I love the guitar riffs and never get tired of playing them on my guitar, they’re pure ear pleasure, simple and cool. They’re still young and I’m impatient to see how their next songs and how they will develop(which they will surely do). ps. I’m not a big fan of psychedelic rock, but they’re pretty good at it.
Must-listen to songs : Fluorescent Adolescent, Teddy Picker, Fake Tales Of San Fransico, I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor, When The Sun Goes Down, Crying Lightning, Brianstorm, R U Mine

You used to get it in your fishnets
Now you only get it in your night dress
Discarded all the naughty nights for niceness
Landed in a very common crisis
Everything's in order in a black hole
Nothing seems as pretty as the past though
That Bloody Mary's lacking in Tabasco
Remember when you used to be a rascal

Oh the boy's a slag
The best you ever had
The best you ever had
Is just a memory and those dreams
But as daft as they seem
As daft as they seemed
My love when you dream them up

Flicking through a little book of sex tips
Remember when the boys were all electric?
Now when she tells she's gonna get it
I'm guessing that she'd rather just forget it
Clinging to not getting sentimental
Said she wasn't going but she went still
Likes her gentlemen not to be gentle
Was it a Mecca dauber or a betting pencil

Oh the boy's a slag
The best you ever had
The best you ever had
Is just a memory and those dreams
Weren't as daft as they seem
Not as daft as they seem
My love when you dream them up

Oh, Flo, where did you go?
Where did you go?
Where did you go?

Falling about
You took a left off
Last Laugh Lane
You were just sounding it out
You're not coming back again

Falling about
You took a left off

You were just sounding it out
You're not coming back again
